Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 8 May 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your download, purchase, licensing, and use of Objo Studio ("Software"), a desktop application developed and distributed by Pettet Industries ("Developer", "we", "us", or "our").
By downloading, installing, purchasing, activating, or using Objo Studio, you ("User", "you", or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not purchase a license and do not use the Software.
1. Definitions
"Build" means compiling an Objo Studio project into a runnable application or executable.
"Generated App" means an application, executable, bundle, package, or other output created from your project using Objo Studio.
"License" means the right to use the Software as described in these Terms.
"License Key" means the unique code or activation credential provided upon purchase or educational approval that enables licensed features.
"ObjoBasic" means the BASIC-like programming language, compiler, runtime, standard library, documentation, and related tooling included with or used by Objo Studio.
"Publish" means creating release-oriented output for distribution, which may include platform-specific packaging, signing, notarisation, installer, AppImage, MSIX, DMG, or handoff material depending on the target platform and host operating system.
"Updates Period" means the period during which your License entitles you to use new Objo Studio versions for Build and Publish operations, as specified at the time of purchase. Unless stated otherwise at checkout, the Updates Period is twelve (12) months from the date of purchase or renewal.
2. Free Use
Objo Studio may be downloaded and used without a paid License for editing, designing, running, testing, and debugging ObjoBasic projects.
A paid or approved educational License is required to use Build or Publish to create distributable apps. Free use is still subject to these Terms.
3. License Grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Install and use Objo Studio on up to three (3) computers you own or personally control.
- Use Objo Studio for personal, educational, internal business, or commercial development.
- Edit, run, test, and debug unlimited ObjoBasic projects.
- Build and Publish unlimited projects using Objo Studio versions released during your Updates Period.
- Continue using any Objo Studio version released during your Updates Period indefinitely, including for Build and Publish, unless your License is terminated, refunded, reversed, or disabled for breach or abuse.
- Distribute Generated Apps created from your own projects, including commercially, without paying royalties to us.
This License is for end-user use only. It does not grant any right to sublicense Objo Studio itself, distribute Objo Studio as a development tool, or provide Objo Studio as a hosted service.
4. Per-User Licensing
Objo Studio licenses are per-user unless we agree otherwise in writing.
One License may be used by one individual user on up to three (3) of that user's own personal machines at the same time. If Objo Studio is used by a company, organisation, or team, each individual user who uses licensed Build or Publish features must have their own License unless covered by a separate written agreement.
We may apply reasonable activation, validation, and anti-abuse limits, including a limit of three (3) simultaneous activations unless stated otherwise at checkout, to prevent License Key sharing, resale, automated activation, or use by more users than permitted by the License.
5. License Restrictions
You may not:
- Copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of Objo Studio except as expressly permitted by these Terms.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of Objo Studio, except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits this despite these Terms.
- Rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, publish, or distribute Objo Studio to third parties.
- Share, publish, resell, or distribute your License Key.
- Use a License Key for more users than permitted by the License.
- Circumvent, disable, overload, or interfere with licensing, activation, validation, security, update, or access control mechanisms.
- Remove, alter, or obscure proprietary notices, labels, trademarks, copyright notices, or marks in Objo Studio.
- Extract, redistribute, or reuse Objo Studio runtime, host, compiler, standard library, or packaging components separately from Generated Apps except where expressly allowed by these Terms or by written permission from us.
- Use Objo Studio to build malware, violate applicable law, infringe third-party rights, or attack, disrupt, or compromise systems or networks.
- Use Objo Studio or ObjoBasic to create a competing IDE, compiler service, hosted development platform, or software development kit that substantially reproduces Objo Studio's functionality.
6. Updates Period License Model
Objo Studio uses an updates period license model:
- Your License entitles you to use Build and Publish in every Objo Studio version released during your Updates Period.
- After your Updates Period expires, you may continue using any Objo Studio version released during that period indefinitely.
- To use Build or Publish in versions released after your Updates Period expires, you must renew your License.
- Renewals are optional. Unless checkout states otherwise, there are no automatic renewal charges.
- A disabled, refunded, reversed, fraudulent, or terminated License may block Build and Publish even if the Updates Period would otherwise cover the Studio version you are using.
The Updates Period begins on the date of purchase or renewal unless stated otherwise at checkout.
7. Activation and Validation
License activation and validation require an internet connection. Objo Studio uses Lemon Squeezy license keys for licensing and may communicate with Lemon Squeezy's licensing API when you activate, validate, or deactivate a License.
License validation may occur periodically to confirm that:
- The License Key is valid for Objo Studio.
- The License Key is valid for the Objo Studio publishing license.
- The current Objo Studio version was released during your Updates Period.
- The License has not been disabled, refunded, reversed, abused, or otherwise invalidated.
If activation or validation temporarily fails because of a network problem, Objo Studio may continue to rely on locally cached license information where supported by the Software. We reserve the right to limit activations, deactivations, and validation behaviour to prevent abuse.
8. Educational Licenses
Primary and secondary schools may be eligible for a free educational License. Educational Licenses are intended for teaching, learning, classroom use, and school-managed projects.
We may require reasonable information to confirm eligibility. Educational Licenses are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may be changed, suspended, or withdrawn if eligibility changes or the License is misused.
9. Your Projects and Generated Apps
You retain ownership of your own source code, project files, images, assets, text, data, and other materials that you create or import into Objo Studio.
We do not claim ownership of your projects or Generated Apps. Subject to these Terms, you may distribute, sell, license, or otherwise make available your Generated Apps as you choose.
Generated Apps may include runtime, host, standard library, framework, template, or support components supplied by Objo Studio. We grant you the right to distribute those components only as embedded in or bundled with Generated Apps created from your own projects using a properly licensed copy of Objo Studio. You may not extract, repackage, or distribute those components as a standalone runtime, SDK, compiler, IDE, library collection, or development tool.
You are solely responsible for your projects and Generated Apps, including their legality, licensing, security, content, behaviour, user support, privacy compliance, platform compliance, and any third-party rights or obligations.
10. Build, Publish, and Platform Requirements
Objo Studio is intended to help build command-line and desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Build and Publish behaviour depends on the project type, target platform, host operating system, installed platform tools, signing credentials, and current system requirements.
You are responsible for any platform-specific requirements needed to distribute your Generated Apps, including code signing certificates, notarisation, MSIX packaging, AppImage tooling, app store rules, operating system compatibility, native library requirements, export controls, and user-facing legal notices.
We do not guarantee that Generated Apps will be accepted by any app store, marketplace, security scanner, notarisation process, package manager, operating system, or distribution platform.
11. AI Assistant and External Providers
Objo Studio includes an optional AI Assistant. You choose whether to configure and use it.
The AI Assistant may connect to local or hosted providers such as Ollama, LM Studio, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or other supported services. If you use a hosted provider, your messages and selected project context may be sent directly to that provider. Your use of any AI provider is governed by that provider's own terms, privacy policy, usage rules, and billing arrangements.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, insecure, or unsuitable for your purpose. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating any code, explanations, edits, or suggestions produced by the AI Assistant before relying on them.
If you enable AI code editing, the AI Assistant may modify project files through Objo Studio's tools. You remain responsible for reviewing and accepting those changes.
12. Remote Debugging and Network Use
Objo Studio may support remote running and debugging using the Objo Remote Debugger or Remote Agent.
When you use remote debugging, you are responsible for ensuring that you have permission to connect to the remote machine, deploy bytecode or resources to it, and run your application there. You are also responsible for the security of your local network, remote targets, firewall configuration, and any data transmitted during remote debugging.
Remote debugging is provided as a development feature. It is not a general-purpose secure deployment, hosting, or production operations platform.
13. Payments and Pricing
Paid licenses are processed by our third-party payment provider, Lemon Squeezy.
Prices, included taxes, currency, renewal options, and checkout terms are shown at the time of purchase. You are responsible for any additional taxes, duties, bank fees, currency conversion fees, or charges imposed by your jurisdiction or payment provider.
We may change pricing, packaging, educational eligibility, promotional offers, or license availability at any time. Price changes do not affect licenses already purchased, but they may apply to future purchases or renewals.
14. Refund Policy
Except where required by applicable law, all sales are final.
Objo Studio can be downloaded and evaluated for free before purchase. You can write code, design interfaces, run projects, test, and debug without a paid License. We strongly encourage you to use the free mode to confirm that Objo Studio meets your needs before purchasing a License for Build and Publish.
By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to evaluate the Software and that refunds are not guaranteed.
15. Intellectual Property
Objo Studio, ObjoBasic, the compiler, runtime, standard library, user interface, templates, examples, documentation, website content, graphics, trademarks, branding, and related materials are owned by the Developer or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your License grants you no ownership rights in Objo Studio or ObjoBasic. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by the Developer.
Third-party components included with or used by Objo Studio remain subject to their own licenses and notices.
16. Privacy
Your use of Objo Studio, the Objo website, license activation, optional AI providers, optional web search, and related services is subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how information is collected, used, and protected.
17. Third-Party Services
Objo Studio may integrate with or rely on third-party services, software, frameworks, APIs, and tools, including payment processors, licensing services, AI providers, web search providers, operating system tooling, signing and notarisation tools, package builders, and platform SDKs.
We are not responsible for third-party services or tools, and we do not control their availability, accuracy, security, pricing, terms, or policies. Your use of third-party services or tools is at your own risk and may require separate accounts, licenses, credentials, or fees.
18. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
- WARRANTIES THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
- WARRANTIES THAT THE SOFTWARE, GENERATED APPS, BUILD OUTPUT, PUBLISH OUTPUT, AI OUTPUT, DOCUMENTATION, EXAMPLES, OR PLATFORM INTEGRATIONS WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR EXPECTATIONS.
- WARRANTIES THAT GENERATED APPS WILL BE ACCEPTED BY ANY APP STORE, MARKETPLACE, SECURITY SYSTEM, NOTARISATION PROCESS, PACKAGE MANAGER, OPERATING SYSTEM, OR DISTRIBUTION PLATFORM.
YOU USE THE SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR TESTING YOUR PROJECTS AND GENERATED APPS BEFORE DISTRIBUTION OR USE.
19. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, DATA, PROJECTS, SOURCE CODE, GENERATED APPS, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.
- THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR GENERATED APPS, YOUR USE OF THIRD-PARTY SERVICES, AI OUTPUT, PLATFORM TOOLING, CODE SIGNING, APP STORE REVIEW, REMOTE DEBUGGING, OR DISTRIBUTION OF YOUR SOFTWARE.
- THE DEVELOPER'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SOFTWARE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE LICENSE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability, whether contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, and even if the Developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
20. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Developer from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from:
- Your use of Objo Studio.
- Your projects or Generated Apps.
- Your distribution, sale, licensing, support, or operation of Generated Apps.
- Your use of AI providers, web search providers, remote debugging, signing tools, package builders, app stores, or other third-party services.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of applicable law or any third-party rights.
21. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your License immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use licensed Build and Publish features ceases immediately.
- You must stop using the License Key.
- You must uninstall and destroy copies of Objo Studio if required by us.
- You may continue to distribute Generated Apps lawfully created before termination, unless the termination relates to unlawful content, infringement, fraud, circumvention, or other misuse connected with those Generated Apps.
Sections 5, 9, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23 shall survive termination.
22. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms, Objo Studio, or your License shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
23. General Provisions
Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the Developer regarding Objo Studio and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications about the Software.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Waiver
The failure of the Developer to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your License without the Developer's prior written consent. The Developer may assign these Terms without restriction.
Modifications
We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of Objo Studio after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
